May 2016 – Smash opens in Reading

Ping-pong, wiff waff or table tennis. . . whatever you call it, it’s where the party people are at! Smash is a brand new, unique entertainment venue which opened it’s doors in Reading on Friday 27th May, bringing ping-pong into focus as the sport to play whilst enjoying a beer.  Smash offers a range of over 40 bottled craft beers and ciders, plus an own label ‘Smash’ lager. Unlike any other bars in the town, Smash plays host to four Olympic grade ping-pong tables.

“Ping-pong is a fun, social, sporting activity and Spin is taking it back to its roots by combining the game with entertainment and partying. Designed to be enjoyed by friends, work colleagues or even friendly competitors, we’ve added great food and drink and a cool, exciting environment to the mix to make it a unique experience” – Lee Nicolson – MD of Eclectic Bar Group.

The tables are available for both pre-book and drop-in sessions for an afternoon or evening of fun; just pick up a paddle and play.  Open seven days a week from midday until late night, Smash offers a contemporary, relaxed and fun atmosphere playing an eclectic mix of retro indie music and disco classics.  Not only does Smash specialise in ping-pong shenanigans, but it will also host regular DJs and live music acts.

Smash also shows live sports events, such as the Superbowl and other games for the crowds to enjoy in an individual, urban environment. Smash’s laid back, contemporary vibe with exposed brickwork and industrial style light fittings, is perfect for watching a game or playing one and grabbing some food.

Boasting a menu of artisan pizzas, hand-made and cooked in an authentic Italian style, with fresh dough bases and high quality ingredients, such as the Tuscan Style – a fusion of basil pesto sauce, mozzarella, Tuscan spicy sausage, Portobello mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes..  Along with artisan home-made pizza, Smash has an impressive offering of unique and fun ping-pong themed cocktails includes the Pingstar Martini and a Mojito in a Spin.
